The Georgia Power Ambassadors
A 501(c)10 Organization for Retirees
The Ambassadors was officially incorporated under the laws of the State of Georgia on November 1, 1984. This organization is provided statewide for retired employees and spouses. There are 19 chapters throughout the state with a membership of 2500+. The purposes of the organization are to promote a means of friendly association, to foster continuing fellowship and helpfulness, to promote happiness and well-being of membership, to provide service to the community, and to maintain communication between the retirees and the Company.
During 2011, the Ambassadors donated over 57,000 community service hours statewide in support of cancer initiatives, Red Cross blood drives, school mentoring programs, hospital and nursing homes, Chamber of Commerce membership campaigns, the United Way, March of Dimes, Clean Community, Meals on Wheels, Habitat for Humanity, Rebuild Atlanta, Alzheimer's Association, Mayors' Walk for Seniors, battered women's and children's shelters, and many other community service projects in their local areas.
The Ambassadors are loyal supporters of the Georgia Power Family House and the Mary Ann Manley House with all chapters making donations of supplies and money and providing a work force to help take care of special projects at the houses. They financially support the Electric Kids, a registered charity for the children of deceased or disabled Georgia Power employees.
Their support is vital in helping Georgia Power be "A Citizen Wherever We Serve." But the members maintain that the greatest benefit of the organization is the continued association with fellow retirees and the Georgia Power family.
