Project SHARE
Fellow Georgians need your help
Occasionally, emergencies arise where citizens have a hard time acquiring food, shelter, clothing, medical supplies, or even paying their utility bills. But, thanks to programs such as Project SHARE, help is available for those truly in need.
Since its inception in 1985, Project SHARE has collected donations customers make when they pay their electric bill. Georgia Power then matches customer contributions dollar-for-dollar and forwards the monies, through Salvation Army Corps Community Centers, for distribution to needy people in all 159 Georgia counties. Money collected stays in the county from which it originates, so your dollars go to work right in your own back yard, truly neighbors helping neighbors!
Periodically, Georgia Power conducts promotions to strengthen program participation. The promotions are announced by such means as bill messages, bill insert stories and media coverage. If you'd like to join this worthy cause, simply add $1, $2, $5 or $10 to your electric bill payment during promotion times or call the Georgia Power number printed on the top of your bill. Once you enroll, your designated contribution will be added to your electric bill and remain there until you notify us you want to discontinue the program. For tax benefits, your monthly gift will be disclosed as a separate line item on your bill.
Last year, Project SHARE provided assistance to more than 50,000 Georgians, with Georgia Power and its customers contributing $2.3 million to the program. If you'd rather make a one-time donation, call Project SHARE toll-free at 1-800-257-4273.
